Payment Methods


In the Butler County Treasurer Office, we accept cash, checks, credit cards, and debit cards. We also accept credit card, debit card, and electronic check payments on our website.

Please note: Butler County's merchant services provider Point & Pay (P&P) adds a service fee of 2.35% with a minimum of $1.50 for all credit card transactions. They also add a 1% fee with a minimum of $1.50 for all debit card transactions. The County does not receive the service fee and it is non-refundable. P&P does not charge a service fee for electronic check payments.

Payments made on our website or by telephone are considered timely if completed on or before 11:59 P.M. on the due date reflected on your tax bill. To learn more, please click here.
Pay in Person

When paying in person, we accept cash, checks, credit cards, and debit cards in our office. To ensure a smooth and accurate payment process, please bring your tax bill to our office and make checks payable to the Butler County Treasurer. Our office hours are from 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday. You can find us at the Government Services Center, 315 High Street 10th Floor, Hamilton, OH 45011.

Mail Payment

When sending your payment in the mail, please include the bottom portion of your tax bill and be sure to make checks payable to the Butler County Treasurer. If you require a receipt, enclose your entire tax bill with a self-addressed stamped envelope.  Payments sent by mail should have a United States Postal Service postmark dated on or before the due date on your tax bill to be considered timely. Please do not send cash through the mail. Our address is 315 High Street, 10th Floor, Hamilton, OH 45011.

Place in Drop Box

To ensure your payment is processed correctly, remember to include the bottom portion of your tax bill along with your payment. Please make checks payable to the Butler County Treasurer. The drop box for our office is conveniently located behind the Government Services Center on Court Street. If you need a receipt, please include your entire tax bill with a self-addressed stamped envelope. Please do not place cash in the drop box.

AutoPay (Automatic Withdrawal)
Autopay is a free, secure service that allows you to pay your real estate taxes through an automatic withdrawal from your checking or savings account. You will still receive a tax bill, but you will no longer need to write and mail a check or stand in line to pay your taxes. There are two Autopay options: 1. Monthly, and 2. Semi-Annually.

Payment Plan for Past Due Taxes
A Delinquent Tax Contract allows a taxpayer to make monthly payments on past due taxes while remaining current on upcoming tax bills. Ohio Revised Code sections 323.31 and 5721.25 outline eligibility requirements.

Monthly Escrow Program
Many people find that making a monthly payment is the most convenient way to pay their property taxes. With the escrow program you can include property taxes in your monthly budgeting, so there's no unpleasant surprise when the tax is due. Current taxes must be paid in order to enroll. There are two ways to pay: 1. Payment Coupons, and 2. Autopay.
